Accessibility Statement for SmutLovers.org
Our Commitment to Digital Equity and Inclusion
At Rome Entertainment Group, we believe that access to information, connection, and community is a fundamental human right. That belief drives the design and development of SmutLovers.org, which is built to be accessible to the widest possible audience.
The Smut Lovers community was born out of a deeply personal need: as a smutty romance author, our founder Nikki Rome often struggled to find accurate, inclusive, and research-backed information. That challenge fueled her vision to create a space where writers, educators, and readers could come together to learn, grow, and have a damn good time. Accessibility is a core part of that vision.
We have invested significant resources into making our website user-friendly for all. Our approach is grounded in dignity, equity, comfort, and independence, and we view accessibility as a continuous journey and not a checkbox. We are committed to growing our knowledge and capacity to expand equitable access to information over time.
Technical Standards and Tools
SmutLovers.org is designed and maintained with the goal of conforming to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, as recommended by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These internationally recognized guidelines provide a strong framework for creating and maintaining accessible digital content.
To support real-time adaptation and user flexibility, we have implemented the UserWay Accessibility Widget, which is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. This tool allows site visitors to personalize their browsing experience to better meet their needs.
How to Access the Accessibility Features
You can activate the accessibility interface by pressing the Tab key when the page first loads or by clicking the accessibility icon located in the lower corner of the screen. After selecting the icon, please allow a few seconds for the full menu to load.
The icon will look like this on each page:
Ongoing Efforts and Known Limitations
We regularly audit and scan our website using the UserWay Accessibility Scanner to identify and fix potential accessibility barriers. Despite our best efforts, some areas may not yet meet the highest standards of accessibility due to:
- Legacy content or older plugins that may not fully align with WCAG guidelines.
- Third-party integrations outside our control.
- Ongoing design and development updates.
We’re actively working to address these gaps and welcome your input as we prioritize improvements.
